As an artist of many different fields myself, (sound design, writing, music composition and painting), I constantly seek inspiration from a range of creative mediums. By engaging with other artists across a spectrum of disciplines we can broaden our own work. Get out there and see some art. Go beyond our own experience and share your world with others.
I am pleased to announce that I have had the pleasure and joy of working with an amazing New Zealand concept artist, Amit Dutta. The first snippets of his concept sketches for my sci-fi fantasy series, Wandering Stars, are starting to come through now and I am thrilled by the results!
Amit’s talent for illustration and environmental design are matched by his enthusiasm and passion for his work. He’s an award winning, self-taught freelance artist and entrepreneur. His stunning work and been published in Paul Tobin’s science fiction and fantasy artwork collection, White Cloud Worlds Volume 3. In this anthology, his work appears alongside other amazing New Zealand concept artists who have worked on films such as, The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, King Kong, Avatar and District 9.
In addition to his freelance work, Amit is also committed to helping other visual artists develop their skills. He set up the Crimson Crucible website, a fantastic forum that encourages artists to share their work, hone their craft and prepare themselves for work as freelance artists.
Incredibly talented and dedicated to his work, Amit is an artist to follow. I can’t wait to see the cover designs he comes up with for my book.
Maybe you have a project you’d like to contract him for?
